YouSkipPrivacy Policy
The short version: YouSkip runs entirely inside your browser. It does not collect, sell, share or transmit any personal data. The only things it stores are your on/off setting and your skip counters, and those stay on your computer.
Who we are
YouSkip is a Chrome extension made by Cobra Digital Group LLC, a Florida limited liability company ("Cobra Digital Group," "we," "us"). This policy explains what YouSkip accesses, what it stores, and what it does with that information.
What YouSkip accesses
YouSkip only runs on pages at youtube.com. On those pages it reads the structure of the page to find two things: YouTube's Skip button and the video player element. It uses them to:
- click the Skip button as soon as YouTube makes it clickable;
- mute an ad that cannot be skipped and play it at 16x speed until it ends; and
- restore your previous volume and playback speed once the ad is over.
YouSkip does not read your YouTube account, watch history, searches, comments or messages, and it does not run on any website other than youtube.com.
How it is processed
Everything happens locally, inside the extension in your browser. YouSkip does not make network requests of its own, has no server, and sends nothing to Cobra Digital Group or anyone else.
What YouSkip stores
YouSkip saves three small values using Chrome's local extension storage (chrome.storage.local) on your device:
- whether YouSkip is turned on or off;
- the number of ads it has skipped or sped through; and
- an estimate of the time it has saved you.
These values are not synced to your Google account and are never sent to us. You can erase them at any time by removing the extension from Chrome.
What YouSkip does not do
- It does not collect personal information, personally identifiable information, or browsing history.
- It does not sell, rent, share or transfer any data to third parties.
- It does not transmit data over the network.
- It contains no analytics, telemetry, advertising, or tracking of any kind.
- It does not load or run remote code. All of its code ships inside the extension package.
- It does not require an account.
Permissions
- Access to youtube.com: lets YouSkip run on YouTube pages so it can find the Skip button and the video player.
- storage: lets YouSkip save your on/off setting and counters on your device.
Chrome Web Store User Data Policy
YouSkip's handling of information complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Because YouSkip collects no user data, there is nothing for us to use, sell or transfer.
Children
YouSkip does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If a future version of YouSkip changes what it accesses or stores, we will update this policy and its effective date before that version is published.
